A free three-card spread you can actually use

Write one observable situation: “We had a good date, but neither of us has suggested another.” Choose these positions before shuffling:

1. What I am noticing: a detail to examine in the situation.
2. What I am assuming: a possible interpretation to question.
3. What I can choose: a small action or boundary within your control.

Draw three cards and look up their images in the English card meanings guide. Write one sentence for each position. You may leave a position unanswered if its image does not suggest anything useful; no hidden meaning has to be forced out of it.

Worked example: silence after a good date

Imagine drawing The Hermit, the reversed Knight of Cups and Six of Pentacles. These are example cards, not a reading about you.

The result is not “he needs space but still likes you.” It is a clearer distinction between a fact, an interpretation and a choice. If there is no response, a new card cannot supply the missing answer on that person's behalf.

Mixed signals, a delayed text and trust

Instead of asking why somebody is secretly distant, list the signals you actually received: an invitation, a cancellation, a message or an explicit boundary. Then ask which part you need to clarify. Different explanations can fit the same silence.

For a delayed text, the useful decision might be whether to send one clear message or leave the conversation where it is. For trust, consider what agreement you thought existed and whether you have discussed it. A card is not evidence of cheating, honesty or a concealed relationship.

Will my ex come back or should we get back together?

These are different questions. The first asks for another person's future choice; tarot cannot establish it. The second may open a discussion about what you would need before considering reconciliation.

New love, commitment and marriage questions

For “Will I meet someone?” try exploring what kind of relationship you want and which ordinary opportunities to meet people you would enjoy. You do not need to interpret being single as a blockage.

For a proposal or the future of a marriage, write the commitment you are actually asking about: exclusivity, living together, sharing responsibilities or getting married. A card cannot replace agreement between the people concerned. A practical three-position exercise is my expectation, the conversation we have had, and the conversation still needed.

Moving on, friendship and a complicated connection

Not every unclear connection needs another reading. You can decide what you are willing to continue without first discovering a hidden explanation. The same method works for friendship: describe the behaviour, identify the assumption, and choose the boundary or conversation.

If several people are involved, avoid assigning cards to their secret desires. Keep the exercise focused on your agreements and actions. It is not a test of compatibility or a way to decide which person somebody “really” loves.

Finish the reading without chasing a preferred answer

Keep the notes from your first draw. Repeating until you see a romantic card does not make a return or a relationship more likely. Ask what information would help you decide, then give yourself room to obtain it or to leave the question open.
